Our History
The church was formed in 1882 bringing together three different groups of people. One group was from the PeeDee Island area, another group from the Mill Pond area and the third group were from the Ariel Community up to near the Olivet Neighborhood.
The church would regularly meet in a school house.
The first building was built in 1892 and the church was called “Back Swamp Baptist Church”.
In 1924 the church helped form the Marion Association.
In 1926 the church changed its name to Ariel Church.
